What type of chords go well with the 'modes' i.e. lets say I'm playing in the key of C what chords would I use for the following;

C - Ionian D - Dorian E - Phrigian F - Lydian G - Mixolydian A - Aeolian B - Locrian

You can use whatever chords you want to get the flavour you are after. However, here is a guide to what will fit 'well' with the different modes

Ionian Scale - This is the major scale, best used with major chords.
Dorian Scale - Used with unaltered minor chords.
Phrygian Scale - Used with minor key signatures.
Lydian Scale - Used with major chords.
Mixolydian Scale - Used with unaltered dominant chords.
Aeolian Scale - The natural minor scale used with minor chords.
Locrian scale - Used with minor 7th chords that have a flattened 5th.
