For each mode ... lets say dorian is there a full scale for this mode like is it a major scale with certain notes flat or is it just a posistion on the major scale or both???

A mode is nothing more than a scale played at a different starting note. For example, the C scale with the notes C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C. If you were to switch the starting position of this scale to the second not (D) you would end up with D-E-F-G-A-B-C making it C-Dorian. The key is still C but Dorian.

meant to say "note" before the (D) part. Any major scale is already in "Ionian" mode, that's just a fancy way of saying root position for example the F Maj scale is the same as F Ionian.
