I own the following pedals. I have a fairly rough idea of how I can daisy-chain them. Could anybody suggest a better approach?

Pedals (ordered)

  1. Wah Pedal
  2. Marshall Guvnor Distortion
  3. Ibanez TS-9 Overdrive
  4. Digitech Bad Monkey Overdrive
  5. Digitech Delay

I don't have an EQ pedal, so I use the Bad Monkey as a boost for solos, since it is a very transparent pedal.

I am wondering whether I should have the TS-9 before the Guvnor, and whether I should have the Bad Monkey right up front after the Wah. I've tried these combinations, and they seem to sound more or less the same. Any suggestions on any optimum daisy-chaining?

Here is the order I recommend:

  1. Marshall Guvnor Distortion
  2. Ibanez TS-9 Overdrive
  3. Digitech Bad Monkey Overdrive
  4. Wah Pedal
  5. Digitech Delay

You want your distortion/overdrive pedals to be closer to the front because you only want to distort the sound of the guitar, not the effects such as Wah which should come next. I would put delay last because your sound is basically fully defined by this point and you want delay to repeat the final sonic product, instead of the alternative which would be to have effects applied independently to each repeat produced by the delay leading to somewhat less consistent delayed repeats.

This link Gives a pretty good run down of the reasons behind different orderings of effects pedals.

I'll try this out and let you know. Thanks.

I have always ordered my pedals the way you have yours, with the wah first followed by compressors->distortion/fuzz->delay->reverb. Also, change the order of your pedals and find out what sounds best for your gear. Sometimes trial and error is best for these types of things.
