Hi, Is it possible to make triads from any scale? lets say fx. the blues scale? Thanks in advance :D |

The simplest answer to this question is "yes" Just start with your Root note, then add your 3rd and 5th. |

If the key is major, then it usually goes: Root: Major, 2nd: Minor, 3rd: Minor, 4th: Major, 5th: Major, 6th: Minor, 7th: Minor Diminished. Let's look at C Major to see why this is: C D E F G A B there's your C major scale. D E F G A B C this is the C major scale, starting with the 2nd. E F G A B C D starting from the third F G A B C D E 4th G A B C D E F 5th A B C D E F G 6th B C D E F G A and 7th. Now build your triad from each row (or column), choosing the first, third and fifth notes. See, we're building the triads using only our C Major scale. CEG is Major, DFA is minor, EGB is minor, FAC is Major, GBD is Major, ACE is minor, BDF is minor Diminished. Just do the same with any scale you want to explore. |
