Can you play a scale in chord form, not only using a I,IV,V pattern but using each note in the scale as a chord When/if doing this do you use different structures like I,IV,V then II,VI.VII ets. Or do you play 3 notes and the 4rth note as a chord...anything like that Also does any one know if this has even been done before |

I think I got you. Answer's yes, Very yes. In the Aeolian (IE Natural Major = Normal Everyday Major) The Scale progression steps are W W H W W W H (whole/half note steps)right? If you understand those notes, you'll understand that each note can/will be the Root note of a chord (triad) So let's see... First Chord would be a Major, second can technically be either major or minor, third is minor, fourth is major, fifth is Major, sixth is minor, and the seventh (Which is annoying at times) is diminished. I break the rules a great deal of the time with the seventh though, I'll either play a minor chord, or a variation of it. Take note also, If you want your progression to change modes, use a different chord within the scale, as the root note. When you do this keep any soloing or treble changes to the same key as the original Major chord, but make sure to keep referring to the root Note that you would of changed the chord progression to. -James Leon X X Studios |
