Actually no it isn't. It's a 2 octave locrian with one mistake on the top E string it should read 14 - 17. The F is out of scale. Look at the patterns starting from the bottom. Using the frets he mentions the pattern is H-W-W-H-W-W-W. Then it restarts on the F# on fret 16, string 3 with another round of H-W-W-H-W-W-W. |

It's not a real scale. Scales are just exercises in fingering and dexterity. They tend to move in whole and half steps, and have either a theoretical logic (major scale, minor scales, pentatonic's) or a symmetric structure (Dim, whole tone). What you have written there is more of a lick or melodic fragment. (from a guitar solo?) If I were to call it a scale it would have to fit into the symmetric structure category. The interpretation being: there are a lot of 3rds, or a lot of 2nds. Even saying that is a real stretch. |
