I live in Merida Mexico, looky to have an acoustic guitars craftsman.
I just started to play a year ago a classic guitar that I had several years ago at the attic.
Now I practice all the time and I used to play 80´s (Paul Simon, Pink Floyd, etc.) song and John Mayer´s songs.
Looking for a new guitar I reding and thinking and I decided for the acoustic droughnout with the classic guitar bridge (for nylon string) and increst the hut neck 4.7 mm instead 4.4 mm, because the nylon string are thickest. I ask to handmaker guy and he can make it.
Before I order the guitar, do you think is a good decision, Do you think the guitar will sound good.

Thank you

I'm in need of assistance; I've been playing bass for almost a year now, but I am now moving into a Jazz that requires the basic ability to read music. I have the ability to read music, as I play Trombone in my local town band, but I need to know what location the low E String on a Bass Guitar is on sheet music. After that, I can figure everything out myself.

i.e. One bar below the staff above the line, two below the staff on the line, etc...

Please and thank you!

I'm interested in people's thoughts on the matter of traditional sheet music versus guitar tablature. Which is better and which should I focus on as a guitarist?

http://answers.jguitar.com/questions/100/chords-that-are-labelled-add-5Chords that are labelled (add 5)qiuniu2009-12-05T02:52:46Z2010-03-10T15:05:48Z

I was looking to 'clean-up' a song for a student and was trying to name the chords correctly for said student.

Basically my question is about the major G chord when you play G in the (what I call the sloppy position) where your middle finger in on the 6th string on the 3rd fret, first finger on the 5th string on the second fret and your ring finger on the B string on the third fret and the pinky finger on the high E on the third fret.

I always thought that this was just still G major just adding the 5th. I found out there on that old internet a chord labeled G (add5), I came here to try to find out if that was the official name, but can't find it anywhere. At the end of the listing for the Chord Dictionary here I see a listing at the bottom for the category a listing for Miscellaneous and saw a listing for Major add 9th.

Question: The chord I described above, what is the 'official' naming convention for this chord? If there are Major chords add 9th, are there also Major add 5th?

Whomever whose is working on the site: you the frickin' man, love the new additions!

Thanks in advance.

http://answers.jguitar.com/questions/62/pedal-chain-orderingPedal chain orderingPR2009-11-04T03:27:18Z2010-03-10T11:24:08Z

I own the following pedals. I have a fairly rough idea of how I can daisy-chain them. Could anybody suggest a better approach?

Pedals (ordered)

Wah Pedal

Marshall Guvnor Distortion

Ibanez TS-9 Overdrive

Digitech Bad Monkey Overdrive

Digitech Delay

I don't have an EQ pedal, so I use the Bad Monkey as a boost for solos, since it is a very transparent pedal.

I am wondering whether I should have the TS-9 before the Guvnor, and whether I should have the Bad Monkey right up front after the Wah. I've tried these combinations, and they seem to sound more or less the same. Any suggestions on any optimum daisy-chaining?

Electric guitars have changed surprising little since the 1950's. Aside from a few innovations here and there, the materials, design and guts of today's Fenders, Gibsons, etc. are pretty close to what they were in the 1950's. In fact the actual models from the 1950's are generally considered to be superior to newer models. Is the Gibson Robot Guitar finally a worthy breakthrough that will take our playing to the next level? Is a robotic tuner practical? Or just a gimmick? Will this open up the world of alternate tunings to the masses of guitar players stuck in standard tuning?

I'm trying to determine the best way to play weird chords progressively. For example: I am playing a song with the following chords: EM, F#M7sus4, G6/E, F#M7sus4. Then Am, Bm7sus4, C6/A, Bm7sus4. I looked all these chords up and was given 3 or 4 Choices for each weird chord. Which one go smoothly together. Is there a method for choosing these and other progressions.
